Plant Bio

Strelitzia nicolai

Native to areas of Southern Africa where it grows as a large tree that can reach 25 feet tall (but don’t worry, it tends to stay much smaller indoors!), White Bird of Paradise is a closely related to Banana. It produces white flowers—similar to an orange Bird of Paradise---though it rarely blooms indoors. That’s okay, though, because it’s easy to overlook the flowers compared to its large leaves that can reach 3 feet long or more!

Note: This plant may have some natural degree of toxicity and may cause discomfort or illness if ingested. Additionally, exposure to the sap of this plant may cause discomfort to individuals with a sensitivity to it upon contact. Grown for ornamental purposes and not intended for human or animal consumption.
